Cooperative-ITS Architecture and Security Challenges: a Survey

Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS) f orm a new challenging wireless network and raise new research issues such as driver safety, security and traffic management. In fact, attacks against C-ITS can be hazardous and life thr eatening. A simple message transmitted with wrong information about car speed and position can engender a disastrous accident. It can, for example, snap car automatic and instantaneous braki ng system while it is running at high speed. Consequently, attention must be paid during C-ITS d efinition. In this paper, we describe inter and intra vehicle architecture i.e. C-ITS infrastru cture. Then, we cover C-ITS security and safety challenges. Finally, we present a survey of actual C-ITS research projects.
