Transcriptional regulation of chondrogenesis and articular cartilage destruction

2013
Abstract In 20th century, cartilage researches were performed by in vitro culture system, and current trend of mouse genetic approaches makes a good progress in the studies of molecular mechanisms underlying chondrogenesis. Sox family and Runt family transcription factors play central roles in chondrogenesis and pathogenesis of osteoarthritis. In this review, we would like to introduce recent progress in understanding of molecular regulation of transcription factors in chondrogenesis and articular cartilage destruction.
