Effect of elongation on electrical conduction of polyethylene

1986
It is known that the orientation of polymer chains due to elongation, changes the electrical properties.(1)However the mechanism of the electrical conduction is not completely clear, especially concerning the relationship between its super-structure and electrical conduction. Amborski reported the decrease of electrical conductivity as a result of uniaxial and biaxial elongation in polyethylene terephthalate.(2) This paper deals with the effect of uniaxial elongation on electrical conduction and the apparent activation energy, as well as changes of morphology under the condition of elongation in high diensity polyethylene and low density polyethylene.
