Effect of Shot Peening on Fatigue Property of SiC_p/Al Composite

SiCp/Al composite was fabricated by rapidly solidified powder metallurgy process.The effect of shot peening on the surface microstructures,residual stress and fatigue property was studied in detail,and the micro morphologies of fracture surface were observed.The results show that the fatigue property of SiCp/Al composite was improved obviously after shot peening.The strengthening layer was formed on the composite surface and the thickness is about 95(m.The compressive stress shows the "U" distribution.The dislocation group can be found beside the second precipitation on the shot peened surface of the composite.
