Groupware: the key to successful partnering: a case study

An innovative information technology solution was developed for Scotland's largest road project to be procured under the private finance initiative—a stretch of the M6 north-west of Carlisle. The solution was designed to provide information to support the partnering culture and to promote openness and trust between the project partners. Using a groupware product, a range of integrated information management and workflow applications were developed to meet both the overall project requirements and the needs of individual organizations. The project set a new benchmark in the use of this type of system.
