Cross sectional study of Bio-motorabilities development pattern of untrained Indian girls: A developmental study

2017
The aim of the study was to investigate the cross sectional wise motor development pattern of selected bio-motor abilities of untrained (did not involved any systematic and regular sports training) Indian female girls of 10-16 years of age. For the purpose of the study total 957 girls were selected from different schools and sports promotion schemes and from different part of India. The Six components of bio-motor components namely Explosive Leg Strength, Abdominal Strength, Trunk Flexibility, Speed, Agility and Endurance were assessed using standard techniques. The results in general indicated a trend of improvement in all the motor performance components of untrained girls belonging to 10–16 years ofage. Further, the results also indicated significant difference in all selected bio-motor components (p O. 05. This continuous improvement was observed only up to the age of 14 years and then subjects of the age of 15 and 16 particularly seemed sudden deterioration or stagnation in all motor abilities may be due to continuous increase in height, body weight and different circumferences taking place and energy IS diverted towards the process of growth and development.
