Introduction: Since the implementation of lockdown measures due to the COVID-19 pandemic, emergency wards have observed a decrease in the use of their services for home and leisure injuries (HLIs) for mild cases and an increase in severe cases, particularly among young children and the elderly The objective of this study was to describe the effects of lockdown on the use of emergency wards for HLI, according to age and type of HLI, in metropolitan France Method: Data from the Continuous Survey on Home and Leisure Injurie (EPAC) on hospital emergency care utilization following a HLI were analyzed during the lockdown period (16 March to 10 May 2020) and compared to those produced for the same period in 2019 The number and percentage of emergency wards visits for HLIs were described for all emergency visits and for those requiring inpatient hospitalization that were considered severe cases Hospitalization rates were calculated They are presented by age for the general population, followed by age, sex, location of injury, activity at time of injury, and injury mechanisms for those under 15 years of age and over 45 years of age
