Using 3D-printing to fabricate a microfluidic vascular model to mimic arterial thrombosis

2020
Vascular microfluidic models were manufactured using stereolithography and soft lithography based on computed tomography angiography data. These microfluidic chips were lined with endothelial cells and the devices could be perfused with human whole blood at arterial shear rates. When comparing healthy and stenotic geometries the healthy geometries showed no sign of platelet aggregation, while stenotic geometries showed platelet aggregation near and distal of the stenotic apex.
