Results of multidisciplinary limb salvage in 240 consecutive bone sarcomas

1990
From 1979 to 1986, 272 bone and soft tissue sarcomas were treated by a multi-disciplinary limb salvage protocol, which included adjuvant radiotherapy in most cases. These patients represented 96% of patients with limb sarcoma treated during this period. The 5-year disease free survival rate was 65%. Local recurrence was observed in 17 cases (6%), mostly in patients referred after biopsy or where disease reccured after radiotherapy.
