Study and Design of Energy-Saving Solar Lamp for Small Island in Indonesia : Matakus Island

2018
One of the challenges that must be faced by Indonesia is the distribution of electricity. The uneven electrification ratio in Indonesia occurs due to Indonesia’s geographical condition as one of the largest archipelagic countries. This challenge encourages the government to accelerate the development of the energy sector by utilizing new renewable energy sources in each region. This program is focused on undeveloped rural areas, remote areas, borders, and small islands. Taking this into account, the government issued presidential regulation number 47 of 2017 concerning the installation of LTSHE to accelerate the distribution of electricity in Indonesia. LTSHE utilizes solar energy as electrical energy resources by considering its potential in Indonesia. The research in this paper aims to support government programs by providing an analysis of the technical provisions of LTSHE so that the LTSHE system becomes better. This paper not only shares design analysis technically but also economically. LTSHE technical specification provided by the government are not suitable for all regions in Indonesia whereas the specification applies for all area in Indonesia. In this paper, the analyzing will be in a small populated island in Indonesia, Matakus island.
