La representación de la diversidad familiar en los álbumes ilustrados

2017
The relevance of the phenomenon of the illustrated album and its influence in the school environment in the last decades is indisputable. For this reason, in this study we intend to make a qualitative analysis that bases the permeability of these books on current issues and, specifically, on their degree of transparency in terms of the representation of contemporary family typological diversity. From the descriptive and interpretative analysis of the linguistic and iconographic codes in coexistence within the selected works, starring different types of families —adoptive; single parent, headed by a mother; single parent, headed by a father; nuclear; separated; homoparental formed by two fathers; and homoparental formed by two mothers—, we will see how the illustrated album, thanks to the inferential cognitive process that supposes the decoding of the visual poetics of the illustration, is presented as an ideal artifact for the formation of the current literary reader and a very versatile tool for the social-emotional literacy of children.
