Effect of Qingxiao Prescription Combined with Compound Kushen Injection on Middle-and Late-Stage Primary Liver Cancer:An Observation of 16 Cases

2008
Objective:To observe the therapeutic effect of Qingxiao Prescription (QP) combined with Compound Kushen Injection(CKI) on middle-and late-stage primary liver cancer.Methods:Thir- ty-two middle-and late-stage primary liver cancer patients were equally randomized into two groups: the treatment group received QP (mainly composed of Radix Pseudostellariae,Herba Gynostemmae,Can- oderma Lueidum seu Japonicum,Herba Portulacae Grandiflorae,Radix Paeoniae Alba,Carapax Triony- eis,Herba Duchesneae Indicae,Squama Manis, etc.) combined CKI, and the control group reived CKI only. Results:The short-term cancer-foci relief rate was 12.5% in the treatment group, and 6. 25% in the control group, the difference being significant(P0.01).The total effective rate for improving quality of life was 81.25% in the treatment group, and 62. 5% in the control group, the dif- ference being significant(P0.01).The contents of total bilirubin(TBiL) and alanine aminotransfase (ALT) were decreased after treatment in the two groups(P0.01 compared with those before treat- ment),and the decrease was obvious in the treatment group (P0.05). Alpha-fetoprotein(AFP) content was increased in the two groups as compared with that before treatment, and the decrease was ob- vious in the control group(P0.05). Conclusion:QP comnbined CKI exerts a better effect than CKI in the treatment of primary liver cancer.
