Preliminary Therapeutic Results in Onychomycosis with a Special Formulation

1986
Preliminary results with a bifonazole 1%/urea 40% ointment and occlusion show that infected parts of some kinds of nails, mainly big toenails, are highly resistent to avulsion and need up to 40 days of occlusion. Only 50% of patients treated with bifonazole cream 1% after pre-treatment with the urea formulation have physiological growth of the nail with negative culture tests. In the case of nails with infected matrix, ablation after occlusion is not sufficient in all cases, and a month of post-treatment with bifonazole cream 1% seems not to be enough.
