Education and Professional Development Strategy 2008—2010

A Education and professional development is an essential component of achieving competence in infection prevention and control practice, which requires a commitment to lifelong learning. The roles and responsibilities of Infection Prevention and Control Teams are continually evolving in order to meet the requirements of healthcare organisations and to enhance patient safety. Infection Prevention and Control Practitioners (IPCPs) have a responsibility for their continuing education and professional development to demonstrate their competence and meet the current and future challenges of Healthcare Associated Infection (HCAI).
