İLHAN BERK’İN RESİMLERİNDE RASTLANTIYI ARAMAK

The Second New Movement in which the poets including Ilhan Berk were among emerged during the 1950s. The poets of the movement were interested in many other fields of the arts besides poetry, such as painting, music, theatre. Ilhan Berk, known as “the Frontiersman” of Turkish poetry, is one of the leading figures of the Second New. With his poems, proses and translations, Ilhan Berk gave many great works to Turkish literature. He is also known for his paintings and drawings apart from his literary works. The painters, poets and writers of his milieu had enormous impact on Ilhan Berk’s poems and paintings. His close friendship with the figures from art world of his time including Abidin Dino, Bedri Rahmi Eyupoglu, Cemal Sureyya was the most important factor that cultivated his art. In this study entitled “Seeking For Coincidence in Ilhan Berk’s Paintings”, the relation between his forms and the coincidental will be analyzed through the artist’s figurative paintings. Literature review method will be used during the analysis, by focusing on an overall view on his paintings, the second new movement, the artists that Ilhan Berk admired, his artist friends, and his poems. Results obtained will be presented in the conclusion.
