Precast concrete roof constructions offer the precast concrete industry an opportunity for gaining new shares of the market. Most roof structures for residential buildings are traditional timber roof systems. Although this kind of roof was virtually without competition for many years, numerous alternatives to designers and clients are now available. It has also become apparent that precast concrete roof systems have clear advantages over timber constructions. Since price is often the only decisive factor for the system chosen, timber constructions are in most cases still preferred. This may soon change, however, since it has now become possible to offer precast roof constructions at a price no higher than timber. Production of these roof constructions is possible in any precast plant without special processes.
