Normal Values for Physiological Parameters

1996
This chapter is aimed at supplementing several of the preceding chapters inasmuch as it summarizes important physiological normal values. This should enable the reader to find these values without the need to consult the respective chapter. Obviously, the citation of normal values of physiological parameters is fraught with the dilemma that such parameters, besides the difficulties of measurements, vary with maturation and ageing and depend on gender, body size, body weight, body surface area, and even on diurnal and other rhythms. Many physiological parameters change with exercise. All these considerations are largely ignored in the tables and figures below, and the reader is referred to the respective chapters. Many of the parameters have been taken from Documenta Geigy [3], a unique collection of normal values with a large number of original references.
