NetHAM-nano: A Robust and Scalable Service-Oriented Platform for Distributed Monitoring

2014
NetHAM-nano is a robust and scalable service-oriented platform for distributed monitoring. Based on cloud architecture, NetHAM-nano supports distributed monitoring on both public and private networks. Our choice of homogeneous software design enables high level of fault tolerance and scalability of this service. It also allows high flexibility of resource management as we can assign functions or monitoring jobs to any nodes with suitable resources. NetHAM-nano leverages a publish-subscribe paradigm to decouple communication among functions. The service can scale up simply by turning on more nodes with the same set of software. The system can automatically manage itself to react to node changes. In this paper, we describe the design, implementation, and evaluation of NetHAM-nano.
