Asymptomatic periostitis of the navicular and fifth metatarsal bones in a high jumper

1998
Exercise-induced periostitis of the tibia is well recognized. Cases involving the humerus also have been reported. A case of periostitis of the fifth metatarsal bone of the leading foot and in both right and left navicular bones in a high jumper is presented. This represents a further type of stress-induced periostitis in an athlete.
