Tunnel pressure wave investigation with a new moving model rig

2016
To improve the test ability of high-speed train aerodynamics, a new moving model rig was established in the Institute of Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2014, in which the train model is accelerated indirectly by high compressed air and decelerated by the induced non-contact magnetic force. The rig can finish the aerodynamic tests of 1:8 scale three-car train models at a speed of up to 500km/h for a single-train and two-trains passing by each other in tunnel or in the open air. With the moving model rig, the pressure waves are measured along the single-track and double-track tunnel models of Chinese railway standard with 76m2and 100m2, respectively. The propagation and superposition characteristics of tunnel pressure waves are investigated. It is indicated that the instantaneous pressure waves are agreed with the calculated results and are corresponded with theoretical analyses. The moving model rig possesses the test capability of high-speed train aerodynamics. © Civil-Comp Press, 2016.
