High-Resolution Infrared Measurement of the ν10 Band of Propyne-d1 Using a Synchrotron Radiation Source

Abstract A high-resolution Fourier transform spectrum of propyne- d 1 in the region from 275 to 350 cm −1 of the lowest fundamental band ν 10 was recorded at the MAX Laboratory in Lund, Sweden, using a synchrotron radiation source. At the MAX Laboratory a Bruker IFS 120-HR Fourier transform infrared spectrometer is connected to the 550-MeV storage ring in such a way that part of the synchrotron radiation from the ring is directed to the source compartment of the spectrometer to replace the normal blackbody radiation sources. The resolution obtained was about 0.0010 cm −1 and the signal-to-noise ratio in the sum spectrum of 50 scans was about 70. More than 1880 transitions from subbands with K Δ K = −10 to +8 were used in the calculations. The standard deviation of the least-squares fit with 16 molecular parameters was 0.00010 cm −1 . The performance of the synchrotron radiation source in high-resolution molecular spectroscopy measurements in the far-infrared region is compared to conventional Globar source measurements.
