DETECCIÓN DE ESTRUCTURAS HIDRÁULICAS ROMANAS MEDIANTE MÉTODOS GEOFÍSICOS. LA ZONA ARQUEOLÓGICA DE MAJADAIGLESIA, EL GUIJO (CÓRDOBA)

Th e  Archaeol o gica l  Are a  o f  Majadaiglesi a  i s  locate d  i n  th e  comarc a  o f  P edroches ,  i n  the municipal term of El Guijo, to the north of the province of Cordoba. The abundant archaeological and  epigraphic remains lead to the hypothesis that Majadaiglesia can be Solia, a completely romanized multicultural settlement in the last quarter of the  first century. I n thi s  v as t sit e  o f abou t 1 9 h a th e  remain s o f a  w all , ma ny h ydrauli c st r ucture s an d a necropoli s  fro m Roma n time s ar e obse r v ed . W it h vi ew t o futur e archaeol o gica l act i vities 3.7  ha  site  were  investigated  by  geophysical  surveys,  which  1.3  ha  correspond  to  plateau Cortijo  Majadaiglesia,  and  are  forming  the  subject  of this  study. Geop h ysica l e xploratio n w or k consiste d o f a top o g raphi c su r ve y o f th e stud y area , a magnetic su r ve y ,  an d  a  su r ve y  wit h  subsur f ac e  rada r  (3D )  i n sector s  w her e  th e magneti c  su r ve y  had identi f ie d  anomalie s  o f  interest. B y combinin g bot h method s h a v e bee n identi f ie d a numbe r o f unde r g roun d st r ucture s that have established  that most of the structures  are linked to hydraulic  constructions.  Moreover, the good  dielectric contrast between the buried bodies and the enveloping material it has favored  the  application  of a ref ined  treatment  to one  of the  structures  detected  with  GPR, so have been able to generate  images  with suff icient  quality  for its archaeological  interpretation, based on comparison with similar structures excavated elsewhere.
