Reductive Lithiation of Bis-Phenylsulfones.

Abstract Reductive cleavage of geminal bis-phenylsulfones using lithium naphthalenide in THF at −78°C selectively affords α-sulfonyl carbanions which participate in typical reaction with electrophiles.
