On short-period treatment of erythromycin combined with azithromycin in curing mycoplasmal pneumonia

2005
Aim To explore if there is equal curative effect of short period treatment and common treatment with erythromycin combined with azithromycin in curing children's mycoplasmal pneumonia and to compare the safety of the two methods. Methods 56 patients with mycoplasmal pnemmonia were randomly divided into two groups. 30 patients were in the observed group and 26 patients in the comparative group. We recorded the variation in symptom physical situation, thoracic X-ray and liver function. Results After three days' treatment ,symptoms of both groups had been improved, and two weeks later, the X-ray shadow had been absorbed. There was no difference between the two groups in curing effects. Conclusion Short period treatment of erythromycin combined with azithromycin has no difference with common treatment. Both of the two methods have the same safety, but short-period treatment can decrease the curing frequency and shorten the curing period.
