Aspects of simulating the behavior of an internal combustion engine for electric starter testing

2014
In this paper we present a solution for simulating the cranking torque and speed of an internal combustion engine for electric starter testing. The starting point is represented by the acquisition of the values involved in the cranking process: torque developed by the internal combustion engine, speed, voltage across the starter, the current drawn from the battery and the voltage at the battery terminals. Based on these values we have developed a system that reproduces the mechanical load of the electric starter during cranking.
