Synthesis and Antimicrobial Activities of Some Steroidal Amines

1-Methyl-, 4-methyl, 1,4-dimethyl- and 1-ethyl-4-methyl-1,3,5(10)-estratrien-17β-amines (V) were synthesized by reduction of the corresponding oximes (IV) with lithium aluminum hydride. 17α-Amines (X) were obtained by reduction of 17α-azido compounds (IX) with lithium aluminum hydride. N, N-Bis(2-hydroxyethyl) and 2-cyanoethyl derivatives (VI, XI, VII and XII) were also prepared. Antimicrobial activities of these compounds were tested.
