Stabilization of a large-scale power system via a multilevel technique

This paper presents the development and application of a multilevel hierarchical control scheme to the problem of stabilization of a large-scale power system. The control strategy is based on decomposing the control signals into two components ; the first one balances the effect of interactions between the subsystems, while the second is a local controller for the decentralized subsystems. Then stabilization techniques for the design of the local controllers are proposed. The validity of the approach is illustrated through a three-plant electric power system.
