Chemistry students’ attitude towards chemistry

This paper describes the first-year chemistry students’ attitude towards chemistry subject. 49 first-year students participated in the study. A set of questionnaire consisted of 30 statements was applied to map chemistry students’ attitude towards chemistry. The Likert scale ranging from 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree) was employed in each statement. The study revealed a strong belief among most first-year chemistry students that chemistry knowledge contributes significantly to their daily life. The students declared a positive attitude towards chemistry in term of the importance, usability, attractive and relevance of chemistry.
