A Priority Contention Window Mechanism for Ad Hoc Network

Ad hoc network is a no wired connection and self-configuring, self-organizing, infrastructure-free mobile network. Many studies have proposed different optimized routing protocol and various simulation to improve its performance of ad hoc network. Whatever, most of them only concentrate on the routing problems, but do not take into consideration the medium contention problems of the MAC layer. This article studies the impact of the MAC layer by simulating the transmission of ad hoc network, and a cross-layer algorithm for ad hoc network is proposed. This framework can reduce data conflicts in the MAC layer, obtaining better transmission performance in the network layer. Finally, extended simulation clarify that the “Priority Contention Window Mechanism” can achieve significant improvements compared with conventional algorithms.
