HETEROGENEITY OE DEFATTED BOVINE SERUM ALBUMIN

The heterogeneity of bovine serum albumin has been studied with respect to solubility in 3.0 M KCl in the pH-range 4.7-3.9. Both the -SH heterogeneity and adsorbed contaminants affect the pH-solubility curves. Mercaptalbumin defatted by charcoal treatment was found to be completely homogeneous with regard to pH-solubility properties.
