Experimental test of an analytic expression for bremsstrahlung spectra developed for applications purposes

Abstract A set of packages containing carbon, nickel, copper, zinc and gold samples was irradiated with 21.25 MeV endpoint bremsstrahlung on the Harwell electron linear accelarator HELIOS. The induced activities, measured absolutely using a 113 cm 3 HPGe detector, were compared with activities calculated by folding the photonuclear cross-sections with an analytic expression for the spectrum of bremsstrahlung as a function of photon energy and angle. Very good agreement was obtained.
