Performing Administrative Tasks on Multiple Home Automation Gateways

Until recently, smart home solutions have been mostly distributed as of-the-shelf systems, and users were responsible for choosing system components and performing system configuration tasks. However, cable network operators are starting to offer smart home automation as a service, and to include smart home solutions into their tariff packages. Also, the presence of smart home systems is increasing in hotels, offices, restaurants and similar facilities, and the need emerges to provide mechanisms to control multiple similar or identical system setups in a bulk. In this paper, a cloud-component is presented, which enables system administrators to perform administrative tasks on multiple home automation gateways, such as automation rules setup, grouping of devices or system status control.
