Maternal tolerance to the fetus is fundamental for suc-cessful reproduction. Derangement of this process mayplay a role in the pathogenesis of obstetrical diseases,such as preeclampsia (PE), miscarriages, and fetalgrowth restriction. The action of regulatory T cells (Tregs)has been proposed among the immunosuppressivemechanisms that maintain maternal-fetal immune toler-ance.
