DESIREX 2008: estudio de la isla de calor en la Ciudad de Madrid

2009
From June 23rd to July 6th of 2008, the DESIREX 2008 (Dual-use European Security IR Experiment 2008) experimental campaign from the European Space Agency (ESA) was carried out in the city of Madrid, with the objective of studying the Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect. The Global Change Unit from the Universitat de Valencia organized and took part in the campaign DESIREX2008. Different biophysical parameters were measured, as air temperature, surface temperature, wind speed, wind direction, emissivity and reflectivity of urban and rural surfaces. These measures were taken daily using fixed masts, car transects and calibration/validation points. 30 Flight lines were performed during the campaign, covering the urban area of Madrid and its surroundings with the Airborne Hyperespectral Scanner AHS. In addition, spaceborne images were acquired: ASTER/TERRA, TM/Landsat, AATSR/ENVISAT, AVHRR/NOAA, MODIS/TERRA-AQUA, SEVIRI/MSG2. The data and images obtained during the campaign are shown in this work.
