Raman scattering in striped La1.475Nd0.4Sr0.125CuO4

We measure the Raman scattering intensity in single crystal samples of La 1 . 4 7 5 Nd 0 . 4 Sr 0 . 1 2 5 CuO 4 which is known to exhibit antiphase stripe magnetic/charge order below T≃30 K. For Raman shifts > 1000 cm - 1 , the spectra in all planar polarization conditions show a broad hump which has a very weak temperature dependence. This feature is interpreted as the signature of Raman scattering from spin fluctuations and related to the incipient stripe ordering.
