SESAME (Sesamum Indicum L.) YIELD AND NUTRIENT CONTENTSIN RESPONSE OF SULPHUR AND LIME LEVELSUNDER ACID SOIL IN VINDHYANCHAL REGION

2016
A field experiment was conducted to understand the management of soil acidity with sulphur and lime levels to sustain sesame productivity, Crop was sown during kharif season of 2014 at Agronomy farm of Rajiv Gandhi South Campus Banaras Hindu University, Barkachha, Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh. Results of the study demonstrated that significant improvement in seed, stalk, biological yield, harvest index (%) and NPKS nutrient content (%) in seed and stalk were recorded in 30kg sulphur/ha. Similar results were observed with application of 250 kg lime/ha on all the parameters. It was concluded then the study that application of 30 k.g. sulphur/ha or 250 kg lime/ha is required for better sesame productivity in acid soil of Vindhyanchal region.
