An extension of Keyes' correlation

Keyes' correlation implies that the ratio of any linear combination of elastic constants for one member of the cubic IV III–V II–VI series of materials to the same combination for another member is always the same. In general this is not true. However, there is a good correlation of elastic constant combinations corresponding to the pure longitudinal modes of the cubic III–V II–VI compounds. Certain correlations between the pure shear mode elastic constants have also been found.
