Preparation, characterization of graphene modified epoxy resin and its application in alkali-activated slag composites

Abstract A graphene/epoxy resin composites (RGO/EP) were prepared and applied in alkali-activated slag based composites firstly. In this paper, the preparation, characterization and application of this exfoliated layered nanocomposites are reported. RGO/EP was synthesized by physical blending Graphene which was prepared by Staudenmaier method. TEM was used to investigate dispersion state of graphene in epoxy resin. The chemical characters of epoxy resin with graphene was investigated by FTIR and Raman. For alkali-activated slag composite with RGO/EP, the four-point bending tests was carried out to analyze the fracture toughness and bonding behavior of the AAS specimens. It was observed that the addition of RGO/EP significantly increases the mechanical properties of alkali-activated slag mortar with 75 times more. As a conclusion, RGO/EP provides a new idea for the synthesized and application of graphene in low cost composites.
