Concrete Technology in the Era of Global Warming

The Synthesis Report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has stated in no uncertain terms that global warming is no longer an issue that has to be debated. Global warming is primarily due to human activity and irreversible. Concrete is one of the most important construction materials for sustainable development. However, cement production is the key factor when evaluating emission from the production of concrete. The production of one ton of portland cement clinker contributes approximately one ton of CO2 to the atmosphere. In this paper, the role of concrete technology in the era of global warming is discussed.
