Evolution of the transient vibrational spectrum following short-pulse excitation

1990
Comparisons are given between the time evolution of vibrational and electronic spectra in condensed phases. The vibrational spectrum evolves on the time scale of vibrational dephasing which can be considerably longer than the available short laser pulses. Examples from the photodissociation of iron carbonyls are given.
