Monolithic GPS receiver and synthesizer using high-speed silicon bipolar technology

1992
A Global Positioning System (GPS) L-band receiver and synthesizer chip set has been developed using high-speed silicon bipolar technology and microwave-frequency mixed-signal design techniques. The L-band receiver chip provides a total of 90-dB conversion gain and generates a CMOS-compatible output signal which is directly applicable to digital-signal-processing circuitry. The synthesizer chip utilizes phase-locked-loop techniques with an integrated voltage-controlled oscillator and frequency dividers operated at frequencies exceeding 1.5 GHz. The chip set has been successfully demonstrated within a GPS environment. >
