A Comparative Study for Estimate of Energy Expenditure

1987
In the past, medical service was the emphasis on health development. Subsequently, new focus on health promotion and disease prevention was introduced and further expanded to cover environmental health. Services began to shift from providing for the sisk groups in the population, e.g. mother and child. Since the Fourth Development Plan, the focus further shifted toward the community, i.e. the creation of health volunteers and their role in primary health care. The key to success was identified as a trilogy of strong community, manpower organization and finance. Presently, the community organization has been institutionalized. So are the volunteer and budget component. Hence, time is ripe for the community to develop its own health programmes for the underprivileged as well as protecting its own physical and social environment.
