Mutation of mitochondrial genes associated with the pathogenesis of diabetes mellitus

Diabetes mellitus is a common multi-gene disease with obvious heterogeneity. With the development of molecular biology, the mitochondrial gene mutations have been believed to be an important factor in the pathogenesis of diabetes mellitus. In recent years, the discovery of mitochondrial gene mutations and its association with diabetes mellitus have become a hot topic in scientific research field.
