Correlation Intravesical Prostatic Protrusion and Residual Urine Volume Post Micturition on Patients of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia using Transabdominal Ultrasound Examination

2016
Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is over growing of benign prostatic cells. It may lead intravesical prostatic protrusion (IPP) which is morphological change due to overgrowth of prostatic median and lateral lobes into the bladder and would cause bladder obstruction. Bladder neck obstruction would manifest of post void residual volume. IPP  and post void residual volume are well measured by transabdominal ultrasound grayscale. The purpose of this study is to find out the correlation between intravesical prostatic protrusion with post void residual volume due to benign prostatic hyperplasia in Hasan Sadikin Hospital, Bandung. Subject of this study were 47 patients who underwent abdominal ultrasound measurement of intravesical prostatic protrusion (IPP) and post-void residual volume. The selection of subject has been carried out in consecutive admission. The study was a correlation analytic study using cross sectional method that measured dependent and independent variable simultaneously. The IPP was classified into two stages: insignificant ≤10 mm and significant > 10 mm. This study was correlation of IPP toward post void volume with p value 0,009 (<0,05)
