Isolation and Identification of Serotype 1 Riemerella anatipestifer in Hubei

2010
20-day-old cherry valley ducks in a farm of Hubei province, clinically suspected infection by Riemerella anatipestifer, showed typical signs of paralysis of neck and leg weakness, and some ducks lying on the ground with swimming movements of legs, and dying ducks with neurogenic symptoms. Typical lesions of fibrinous perihepatitis, airsacculitis and fibrinous pericarditis were observed from diseased ducks. 8 strains were isolated with TSA plate containing 5% bovine serum and identified as serotype 1 Riemerella anatipestifer by Gram stain,PCR and sequencing, slide agglutination test, and animal experiment.
