An Enhanced Moth-Flame Optimiser Based on Successive Over Relaxation-Distinguishing Method for Solving Economic Dispatch

Economic dispatch is a class of non-convex and nonlinear complex problem, and swarm intelligence algorithms can solve the problem, such as the recently proposed moth-flame optimizer (MFO). However, the efficiency of such algorithms needs to be enhanced. Therefore, this paper proposes to introduce a modified moth-flame optimizer to solve the economic dispatch, which is enhanced by successive over relaxation-distinguishing method. The enhanced method solves the problem of slow convergence when MFO algorithm is used in dispatching large generator sets as well as guarantees the quality of solution. In order to verify the validity, we use 6, 15 and 40 units case studies to carry out simulation experiments, and verify the superiority of the improved algorithm.
