Modeling and Optimization of Fused Deposition Modeling process parameters for cylindricity control by using Taguchi method

The paper presents optimization of Fused Deposition Modeling process variables to reduce the cylindricity error of 3d printed parts using the Taguchi optimization method. The effect of thickness, infill pattern, number of walls, and Layer height was investigated as variable parameters for experiments on cylindricity. Parts were manufactured by the MarkForged®, using polyamide 6 as the model material. Also, ANOVA and S / N ratio are applied to analyze the effect of selected parameters and optimize them. Then a nonlinear regression model was created to observe the relationship between the control variables and cylindricity. Finally, the obtained results have been verified and confirmed to be in excellent agreement with the experiments.
