The Indian sub-continent, with its vast length and breadth footprint, has to be ever-ready for natural disaster, whether from earthquake or cyclone or flood. The disaster management for power sector is vital as electricity is the lifeline of the society like all other infrastructure. Discussing about recent such calamities and based on experience, further actions that need to be done have been brought out in the paper to achieve improvement further. This is mainly with a view to recover and restore quickly the electricity supply system. Necessity of accuracy in forecasting weather-related phenomena, preparedness with precautionary measures, investment requirement with building up robust and resilient grid system, etc. have been focused in the paper.
