Infusion pyelography in acute renal failure
1969
Thirty-three patients with acute or acute-on-chronic renal failure of unknown origin have been investigated by infusion pyelography a short time following dialysis. Accurate delineation of the renal outlines was obtained in twenty-eight patients: faint and underfilled pyelograms were seen on one or both sides in twenty-one. A correct diagnosis was made in six out of seven patients with ureteric obstruction. Infusion pyelography significantly reduced the necessity for further investigation and the authors consider it to be a valuable and safe procedure in this condition.
