Anisotropy of thermoelectric properties in La2/3Ca1/3MnO3 thin films studied by laser-induced transient voltages
1999
Abstract Calcium doped LaMnO 3 thin films deposited on vicinal cut SrTiO 3 substrates exhibit unexpected large laser-induced voltages at room temperature, in remarkable analogy to those measured for intrinsically anisotropic YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7− x thin films. The experimental data for La 2/3 Ca 1/3 MnO 3 thin films are consistent with the description of a generation of thermoelectric fields caused by off-diagonal elements of the Seebeck tensor. The results suggest that the anisotropy of the Seebeck tensor is due to long range co-operative Jahn–Teller distortions.
